The industry conferences have come to an end for 2024, and we’re about to hit the full holiday swing. It’s a busy time as we all try to close the year on a high note.
One thing we’re doing during this wind-down period is to look ahead at what’s coming next. Starting 2025 on trend and with clear direction is key, especially since the way we do business in the upcoming year is set to evolve drastically.
Here’s our summary of the most exciting and disruptive things to happen, whether we like it or not, in 2025:
Regulation rollercoaster: As Samual L. Jackson’s character in Jurassic Park so eloquently said, “hold on to your butts.” If Trump’s initial cabinet picks are any indication, we are in for a wild four years. Expect massive ripping apart of bureaucratic structures across the board including, most certainly, regulation within the tech industry. We don’t think this will necessarily be a bad thing in totality. We expect this deregulation to completely change the way both start-ups and public companies approach growth in the coming years. We recommend reviewing the possible regulations that could be at risk and be prepared to pivot. You might find new doors open and current strategies that won’t work in the new environment.
From X to Bluesky: It all started with the promise of free speech and, if you’re an X user, you know it’s anything but. We loved Twitter for the up-to-the-second first hand news accounts, and the lively, somewhat balanced discussions. The algorithm showed you posts chronologically which meant you were always up to date. Now we’re shown a massive bias to conservative accounts and chronology has been deprecated in favor of Elon and his friend’s content. Decentralized and open source, BlueSky appears non-biased. It’s as close to the original Twitter as you can get. We hope to see you over there.
The full embrace of AI:
From chatbot to outsourcing: By leveraging ChatGPT more regularly, companies can automate repetitive tasks, draft professional content, analyze data, and generate strategic insights, saving valuable time and resources. This shift allows teams to focus on high-level decision-making while ChatGPT handles tasks like customer support scripting, marketing copy, report generation, and research synthesis. With the right prompts and workflows, businesses can harness ChatGPT as a cost-effective, on-demand virtual assistant that boosts efficiency across departments. A massive leap forward from using it solely as the new Google.
SaaS exits stage left: ChatGPT is shaking up the SaaS game by giving businesses a reason to retire expensive platforms they once thought were indispensable. Take Klarna ditching Salesforce as a prime example: they’re now using custom AI tools to handle everything from customer interactions to sales management. Instead of paying for a suite of one-size-fits-all software, companies can build AI solutions tailored to their exact needs, often at a fraction of the cost. It’s like replacing a clunky toolbox with a sleek, all-in-one multitool that gets the job done faster and smarter.
2025 will be chock a block full of change both on the micro and macro levels. The swing from 2024 to 2025 within tech will be acute, marking the most substantial collection of shifts ever seen in such a short period of time. Hold on to your butts.
